My Indiana Home/ Breaking ground with a sitting garden

I found a charming cast iron garden bench painted white at Big Lots. You can't really tell in the picture but the wrought iron has roses in its pattern. I actually planned to place it inside - in our back porch under an interior window which used to be exterior window. But for now it sits under a shade tree in anticipation of those balmy summer mornings and evenings, if they ever get here (These planting pix were taken inbetween several spring thunderstorms in the course of a cool May day.)

I've planted blue and pink Columbine and also Lilies of the Valley under the tree because they looked so pretty sitting around the bench in their pots. The Lillies of the Valley can be also used for ground cover - which we do need in that area of the yard. We'll see how that grows. I think flower containers sitting alongside the bench would be nice too. It's all a learning experience for me - as you can tell, I get excited just getting it started! I hope these will turn into "before and after" pictures eventually.
