My Indiana Home / Another Summer Weekend

I went down from 40 hours a week to 30 hours a week in June. People at my office have been working summer hours and I asked if I could work 4 days and have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Friday I had a doctor's appointment so on the way back home I stopped at garage sales.

It's kind of a joke since our old farmhouse doesn't have an upstairs bathroom - and the downstairs ones are in the laundry room or through our bedroom. Anyway, I found a convalescent potty chair at a barn sale for only $5.00, I carried it upstairs and moved our washstand with the wash basin and pitcher upstairs as well - and put up two privacy screens ... so here is our "upstairs bathroom." The one on the left is for people - the one on the right is the cat's. Hee.

Notice the bedroom across the hall sort of has a makeshift "bathroom" as well ... don't laugh. It's a long way downstairs on those cold winter nights!

I found the cute little wooden toybox at another farm sale on the same day - only $3.00. My husband and I used to be more in the retail end of the Antiques and Collectibles Business, so it always tickles me to find a nice vintage piece at a really affordable price!

There's no clock upstairs, so I moved a vintage electric clock that had been in the garage upstairs. Butterball's room is falling into shape.

Moving the washstand upstairs freed up some space in my "side room."

The dream of seeing sprays of mophead hydrangeas outside the tall window in my side room is getting closer. Thanks to a tip from a friend, I planted a row of Annabelle Hydrangeas from Rural King just outside this window and they have been prolific bloomer. Last summer Annabelle's were nowhere to be found - this summer they've been at the Farmer's Market, at Rural King, and various other places.
