Friends and Family/Brother and Sister

In a life blessed with influences from many wonderful people (like the two pictured below), perhaps one of the greatest influences came my father. My Dad Bert and my Aunt Joan were the children of Italian immigrants who worked hard to make a good life for their family. A World War II veteran who fought up the coast of Italy in the 10th Mountain Division, Dad lived life daringly and fully. He believed in opportunity, he faced death bravely, and he left a legacy of courage, and optimism and hope. Dad earned his Ph.D. in geology from Indiana University in 1956. In 1998, shortly before he passed away of leukemia, he observed, "They say you never are truly forgotten, until no one remembers your name." Dad has many friends young and old who will remember his name and his extensive work as a exploration geologist in the South American Andes for time to come, but I also want to remember him here. His name is Bert Renzetti and we love him.
