Old houses don't have much storage space. By fanning this queen size bed out from the corner of the room, I can store luggage and blankets behind it as well as underneath. Look at this way - it keeps the dust off the carpet! The half moon table very fits nicely against the wall with no corners sticking out to "getcha," and the little chest of drawers from my grandmother on the other side makes a nice little night stand while it offers additional storage space.
