Benny drove Milestone LP (formerly Faubers)'s old 1931 International Truck in this parade from the late 80's through the early 2000's; After he retired he drove his antique Allis Chalmer "D" tractor and also his team of mules Kate and Annie. As his chief photographer, I enjoyed taking pictures not only of him but of many colorful parade entries. I have more photographs in my archives which I hope to add to this collection as time allows. After the parade - unhitching at Murdock Park - Poor Annie still isn't used to the little horse trailer and she kicked the door of the trailer open and sort of fell out the back as Benny was pulling away - she got a cut over her eye and on her foot, but she performed like a trooper. Bonnie had me bring the antiseptic spray when I came later with lunch. Kate and Annie got lots of apples during the parade route - Benny bought a case from Walmart. The other "hitch" was at the end of the parade route. When we started to head back to our starting point, there was a big grate in the parking lot. The mules didn't trust it and swung sideways and one of the old single trees broke in half. So Benny simply replaced it with a rope and we went back just fine. Mules are particular about where they put their feet - hence their reputation for being sure-footed!
