July 2014: I learned to appreciate community gardens in all their tangled and chaotic beauty a couple of years ago when I was in Virginia during a family illness. I discovered a large community gardens across from Fairfax Innova Hospital where my brother resided for the entire month of October. So this summer back at home I visited the Tippecanoe County Extension community gardens on US 52 South (which I have admired from the car window for several years anytime we drive to town) and all I can say is, GO SEE IT. IT IS WONDERFUL. As well as plots for individuals, there are many types of public display gardens and idea gardens tended by the Master Gardener's Association. I enjoyed taking these pictures of it throughout mid summer to early fall and wanted to share them with anyone who cares to look through them -in hopes they will be encouraged to go and enjoy the garden for themselves - and also so I can visit it again and again, no matter what the season! :)
August 2014: Went walking with my mother and my aunt in the community gardens one sunny August morning.
September 2014: Returned to the gardens one early September Sunday afternoon to see how the months had changed things and to see the Cannas in bloom
These photos were taken on a variety of occasions at different seasons and different times of day. They were taken either with my iphone 5 camera or my Panasonic DMC camera. After I finished working with them in post-processing, they now appear more as paintings or drawings when viewed at larger sizes (which I like to make available to give folks the feeling of really being there amid all the textures, colors, and details of a community garden).
